Peer Helpers

The Peer Helping Program is a support activity which takes advantage of the positive influence that young people have on one another. Peer helpers are active listeners who serve as mentors to younger students to work towards solutions for academic and transitional related issues.

Peer helpers are responsible eighth grade students who assist younger students as they transition from elementary to middle school. Peer helpers are assigned to one or two sixth grade students who have been referred by teachers or a parent. The peers meet with the student(s) every available Tuesday during advisory time to work on academic solutions, such as organization, tutoring and other middle school related issues.
